Santa Maria Airport has a single terminal that handles domestic, international and charter flights. Although a small airport, it does offer ATMs, a bank and a post office as well as a left luggage service. A VIP lounge is available, but patrons must first gain clearance from the airport director.

There is a single building terminal that handles international and domestic arrivals and departures, with a mezzanine level for departures.

Offered in the terminal is a small restaurant and bar serving alcoholic beverage.

The airport's car park has 120 parking spaces. Visitors and travellers parking here should note that charges are accrued by the day.


The airport handles flights mainly from mainland Portugal with limited flights from European cities. There are also shuttle flights to other Azores islands.

When it comes to airlines, both SATA Air Acores and SATA International, which serve Ponta Delgada and the Portugal capital of Lisbon respectively.
